Ingeborg Lockemann was born 1962 in Jena, lives in Berlin and Borkheide, Germany. Ingeborg Lockemann studied theology at the Humboldt University in Berlin (diploma 1989) and graduated in free art / sculpture in 1997 from the Academy of Art in Berlin-Weißensee. Currently she works as a freelance artist and teacher.

Since 1996 she has participated in various exhibitions in Germany and abroad.

Ingeborg Lockemann comments her sociological and intercultural observations in public spaces in a simple and restrained way. Sometimes she only changes the contexts of objects and materials, or she uses them as a starting point to develop new perspectives through cinematic, cartographic and graphic means. Ingeborg Lockemann also works repeatedly with the artist Elke Mohr. Their common work consists of performative actions in public space, which they document as videos or photo series.
